Michael Anastassiades 1967

Michael Anastassiades ble født i 1967 påKypros hvor han vokste opp og har blitt et av de store navnene innen lysdesign i moderne tid. Anastassiades startet studioet sitt i London i 1994 etter åha fullført sin master i industridesign fra Royal College of Art.

I Sverige kom han i rampelyset i forbindelse med et samarbeid med Svenskt Tenn hvor han tolket Josef Franks verk som ble produsert i et begrenset opplag. Anastassiades store gjennombrudd kom i 2014 når han presenterte den umåtelig populære IC Lights-serien fra Flos. Året etter ble den minst like populære stålampen Captain Flint lansert påmarkedet, samme år som bordlampen Copycat.

Anastassiades store forbilde, som har vært med pååforme ham, var farens gode venn, Neoptolemos Michailides, en velrenommert gresk arkitekt. Den røde tråden i designet hans er minimalisme, der de tidløse lampene hans inspirerer til samtaler, deltakelse og interaksjon. Anastassiades har fått internasjonal oppmerksomhet der deler av verkene hans er åfinne permanent påutstilling hos blant annet MoMa i New York, MAK i Wien og FRAC Centre i Orleans.
